A .Raja Resigns Gives resignation over 2G scam:
Jayalalitha's Offer Effect

Few days back AIADMK leader Jayalalitha offered to give unconditional support to the Centre if the Prime Minister takes resignation from A. Raja because of 2G scam.



Otherwise Government was not ready to remove A.Raja to save congress government


The Comptroller and Auditor General has reportedly put the revenue loss to exchequer at Rs 1.40 lakh crore in addition to another Rs 36,700 crore on allocation of spectrum beyond contractual limit to existing nine operators.

Few names of the companies which got 2 G –
The companies which were allotted spectrum include
Unitech Wireless Ltd (rebranded as Uninor)
Loop Telecom,
S Tel, Datacom Services (now known as Videocon Mobile)
DB Group-promoted Swan Telecom (now Etisalat DB Telecom)

Raja is accused of causing a loss of Rs.1.76 trillion (billion) to the exchequer by allocating 2G spectrum at 2001 rates.

It is reported that CAG has found that because of A.Raja government suffered Loss of
Rs 1.76 lakh crore

"In order to avoid embarrassment to the Government and maintain peace and harmony in Parliament, my leader (DMK chief M Karunanidhi) has advised me to resign," Raja told PTI.

Telecom Minister A Raja has resigned

Telecom Minister A Raja finally submitted his resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the 2G spectrum scandal.


The Income Tax department has also begun an investigation into the tax returns of all the telecom operators who were granted 2G spectrum licenses to ascertain their registered profits and find discrepancies
