Bharat Ratna’, the highest civilian award of the country, was instituted in the year 1954.

Any person without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex is eligible for these
awards.

Bharat Ratna is awarded for exceptional service towards

in recognition of public service of the highest order

The recommendations for Bharat Ratna are made by the Prime Minister himself to the
President.
No formal recommendations for this are necessary.

The number of annual awards is restricted to a maximum of three in a particular year.

On conferment of the award, the recipient receives a Sanad (certificate) signed by the
President and a medallion.

The award does not carry any monetary grant.

In terms of Article 18 (1) of the Constitution, the award cannot be used as a prefix or suffix to the recipient’s name.
However, should an award winner consider it necessary, he/she
may use the following expression in their bio-data/letterhead/visiting card etc. to

BCCI accepted original is with customs.

Few Media reports claimed that the world cup trophy given to Indian Cricket team
Was a fake and that the original was lying with the customs in Mumbai over non-payment of duties.

After this ICC issued a statement read as follows –
"Contrary to some erroneous and mischievous media reports, the ICC can confirm that the trophy presented to India at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday was the original ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 trophy and the one that was always intended to be presented to the winner of the event


ICC governing body said that "The trophy seized by Mumbai customs is the promotional, perpetual trophy which remains in the keeping of ICC at its headquarters in Dubai.

It carries the generic ICC corporate logo rather than the logo specific to the 2011 event. That trophy will be reclaimed on Monday and will travel back to Dubai with ICC staff as was always intended

Customs department said that Cup was with them for non-payment of duty of 35 per cent of the original value.

"We will release it after payment of 35 per cent customs duty after its valuation," they told PTI.

ICC was supposed to pay Rs.22 Lakh customs duty for the trophy but they did not pay it and trophy was in the possession of the customs department.

In this world cup ICC got tax exemption of Rs.45 crore, made the profits of more than Rs.600 Crore.

Still ICC did not pay customs duty and saved money.

BCCI admitted Indian Cricket team was not given original cricket world cup trophy.
BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer and the World Cup Tournament director Ratnakar Shetty admitted and accepted that that the real trophy was stuck with Mumbai customs for non-payment of Rs 15 lakh as duty.

The government today approved income tax waiver of about Rs 45 crore to the International Cricket Council for the ongoing World Cup 2011.

When this meeting was held to discuss to give exemption or not to give exemption the meeting was attended by ICC president Sharad Pawar also.


According to Revenue Secretary Sunil Mitra, the total receipts of the ICC from the ongoing World Cup are Rs 1,476 crore, while the cost for organizing the event is Rs 571 crore. The ICC''s revenue from the broadcast rights is estimated to be Rs 1,062 crore.

ICC is very rich organization.

Why government has given them tax exemption?

For Indian citizens you do not have money thus government is planning to remove subsidy from cooking gas.

There is no money for education there is no money for scholarship of students
Still our government is so rich that we are giving ICC tax exemption.

As ICC gave free 250 world cup tickets so government also gave them tax exemption of Rs.45 Crore.

As a beggar we take money from British Government as aid and on other hand we behave like uneducated Indians.

When you go to voting remember this and then decide to whom vote in the election.

Never ever vote for king who taxes the poor and who gives exemption to rich people.

If possible do not watch the Final match of world cup.
Not possible then just make a resolution that for next one week I will not purchase the products of companies which will show advertisements during the world cup.

If you do nothing then nothing is going to change in India.

Against this tax exemption it is possible to file a Public Interest Litigation.
I just hope someone will file the PIL against this exemption of Rs.45 crore tax exemption.

The first semifinal of the World Cup between Sri Lanka and New Zealand will be held in Colombo on Tuesday while the high-octane second semifinal between traditional rivals India and Pakistan is scheduled to be held in Mohali on Wednesday.

The final will be held in Mumbai on April 2.


ESPN-Star Sports has the broadcast rights for the World Cup.

The ICC on Monday night barred electronic media from covering the remaining matches.
The spokesman said, this will be applicable to both the semifinals in Colombo and Mohali and the final in Mumbai.

An ICC spokesman said that non-rights holders will no longer be allowed to cover the practice session or the press conferences related to World Cup for not following the code of conduct and the media guidelines, which they had signed for accreditation.

It is believed that at least 40 leading channels will be affected.

It is believed that the breaches have been of a commercial nature; there could be elements of ambush marketing involved with the channels running shows sponsored by companies that are in competition with the ICC sponsors.


the Broadcast Editors' Association (BEA) and the National Broadcasters Association (NBA) have decided to approach the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry on the matter.

BEA President Shazi Zaman has termed the ICC move as arbitrary and an infringement of media rights.

But I am sure they will find the solution.

Sharad Pawar is seventy year old Indian politician.
Pawar is the second Indian to head the ICC after Jag Mohan Dalmiya, who was at the helm from 1997 to 2000. Pawar is the seventh ICC President, succeeding Englishman David Morgan who concluded his two year term.
From 2008 Sharad Pawar was working as a vice president of ICC.
Pawar becomes the president at a time when Indian subcontinent will organize the World Cup 2011.
Sharad Pawar served as the BCCI president between 2005 and 2008.

The question is now can Sharad Pawar do the justice to his both jobs that is
Job One - Union Minister, Minister for Agriculture
Job Two - President of ICC

Both jobs require full time attention, furthermore he is old and he does not have cricket knowledge. The quality he got is nothing but sweet talking which is used by Indian politicians. Do the sweet talking and forget about performance and frauds.

If cricket players are not allowed to do part time extra job, why then head of the ICC or cricket board is allowed to do two full time jobs.

The time has come ICC should frame rules and regulations regarding the age, experience for the post of ICC president.

Everyone in India knows how much time he spends for the cause of his agriculture ministry in India.
Even one has to look his attendance at the ICC meetings in the past.
ICC meetings generally last two days. Two full days.
Now I am sure Sharad Pawar will bring ICC head office to Mumbai or Delhi so he can attend the ICC meetings. Once it was in London, now it is in Dubai and next step is Mumbai or Delhi.
In 2005 ICC head office was shifted to Dubai from London.
In 2011/2012 ICC head office shits to Mumbai forever.

IPL is a tool to convert black money into white money. IPL is a money making business.
IPL is a tool to get lot of money without doing any hard work , just invest money and earn the profits , it is said that IPL team may win or lose game, but it is guaranteed that each one makes the money.

40% Indians are living below poverty line, but remember if we apply German or USA poverty line method nearly 75% Indians are living below the poverty line.

On one website I read that in Germany if monthly salary of person is below 4000 or 5000 euro then he is considered as living below poverty line.
1 Euro equals to nearly 60 Indian Rupees.
4000 multiplied by 60 = 240000 Indian Rupees. Monthly Salary.

Our politicians say that Maoists, Naxals, Naga Militia are threat to India, but I do not see them as a threat ,
Real threat for India is Companies which do not pay taxes to India as well as companies who help make black money into the white money.

What is the life these naxal people are living , ever tried to understand why they became naxals ?
What will you do if tomorrow government comes and tells you get out from your home , forest , apartment ,we have sold this apartment to the company which will start its business in your home forest.

IPL matches are held day and night time also.
Our villagers are staying in dark , majority cities got the load shedding of 8 hours or 4 hours and we the people of city are enjoying cricket matches at night time.

Ever tried to find out does IPL is paying extra money for the electricity or they are getting electricity free of cost.

Per day electricity bill of IPL matches is more than 15000 US dollars.

Our farmers are not getting water and electricity and these IPL cricket matches get unlimited water to keep the cricket grounds green as well as electricity .

Farmers life is important or Cricket field is important , Cricket games can be played on the artificial grounds also.

The tragedy is that in India the beer is kept inside government warehouses and the agriculture products are kept outside .
And Agriculture minister is busy watching and planning cricket matches of IPL .

As a common Indian, don’t you feel the pain of villagers and don’t you hate corruption , dont you love India ?

I am not against the money making , but company which does not care for the common citizens of India , which does not care for the benefit of India , how can you watch the cricket matches organized by such type of companies .

IPL is the same company in 2nd season when went to the south Africa they paid lot of donations to schools and cities where cricket match was held ,
Then why don’t they pay to the Indians.

If we Indians collectively start to stop watching the IPL cricket matches I am sure IPL will learn to pay the taxes as well as will start the social fund for the welfare of India and farmers and villages .

Where do we find the charitable purpose of BCCI?

One will ask what the problem is if BCCI is registered as a charitable Organization.
BCCI, is registered under Section 12 (A) of the Income Tax Act as a trust, was availing of an income-tax exemption under Section 11 by claiming to be a charitable organization. It had said the promotion of cricket is a public utility.

As per the changes made in the Finance Act, 2008-09, a “charitable purpose” includes relief for poor, education, medical relief, and the advancement of any other object of general public utility.
As a charitable organization the organization pays very less taxes as good as no taxes.

By claiming and getting the status of Charitable Organization BCCI has saved more than Rs 100 Crore of taxes.

How does promotion of Game becomes public utility, furthermore this game is not our national game.

What BCCI has done for the cricket, how many school grounds they have created?
What Social good BCCI has done for India?

What Indian Cricket Team or BCCI head has done for the farmers who are committing suicide?
Which type of Social Service BCCI has done for India, Indian Poor People, and Education?

If BCCI is a charitable organization then every hospital, every insurance company, every medical professional should get 100% tax relief, because no one does the social duty like them.

A charitable trust is one which is established for the benefit of the public as a whole or is devoted to an activity for public good.

Truth is that BCCI is just a commericial company like Tata, Reliance and Wipro.
And they should pay the taxes.

India needs to change the law of charitable trust and organizations,

But we have to remember and look into the past ,1952 olympics broze medal ,winner died in a poverty and he was not awared any national medal.
Very few people remembered him .
So this moment brings happines as well as sadness who know the truth ,who value the of winning gold medal or a medal at olympics.
