Aero India 2011 - Best Fighter Planes will be
on display in Bangalore –

What is Aero India 2011?

Aero India 2011 is the Asia’s largest air show, Aero India is held at Yelahanka Air Force Station, Bangalore, India from 9-13 February 2011.

Global Manufacturers of war planes will display their best planes to in this air show and will try to impress and win the India’s Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) tender.


This is the first time ever that all six contenders for the contract are participating at an Aero India show —
1. Boeing’s F/A-18 Super Hornet,
2. Lockheed Martin’s F-16 Super Viper (both from USA),
3. MiG Corporation’s MiG-35 (Russian),
4. Dassault’s Rafale (French),
5. EADS’s Euro fighter Typhoon (European Union’s)
6. SAAB’s Grippen (Swedish).

All six participants of a tender to supply 126 light fighter jets to the Indian air force will showcase full flight displays at Aero India 2011 air show to win the $11 billion tender.

The air show is organized by Defence Exhibition Organization and the Ministry of Defence, it is held in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the Indian Air Force (IAF), the Department of Space and the Union Ministry for Civil Aviation.

In this Air show nearly 675 exhibitors and around 100 types of civilian and military aircraft’s would be on display
Civil and military aerospace manufacturers from 30 countries, including the US, Britain, Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, Ukraine and the Netherlands, will participate in the show.

250 American companies will participate in this show.
The USA is leading the list with 250 companies participating at the show, Germany with 35, Italy with 10 and 9 from Israel.

Russia will be represented by 35 companies, including MiG, Sukhoi, Almaz-Antei and Engineering Design Bureau.
Russia will traditionally promote MiG-35 and Su-35 fighter jets, the Yak-130 combat trainer, two versions of Il-76MD transport plane (with different engines), the Il-78MK aerial tanker and MiG-29K and MiG-29KUB naval fighters.
Russia will exhibit over 80 types of weaponry



Israel Military Industries Ltd. (IMI) will participate in the 8th International Exhibition on Aerospace
During the exhibition, IMI will display
1. DELILAH Ground Launched (GL), loitering guided missile,
2. MPR500, Multi-Purpose Rigid Bomb, same like MK-82 Bomb.
3. IFB500, Improved Fragmentation Bomb
4. SPECTRAL IR FLARES,RED SKY 2, Very Short Range Air Defense System, offered as an upgrade to existing Man Portable Air Defense Systems,
5. Multi-Purpose Rifle System (MPRS) designed to provide infantry troops increased lethality and enhanced target incapacitation capabilities

World class fighters like the F-16 Fighting Falcon, F/A-18 Super Hornet, C-17 Globemaster III, C-130J Hercules (recently procured by India) and KC-135 Stratotanker will be on display

India will display its indigenously built supersonic light combat aircraft and light combat helicopter, which will be on the display for the first time.

IAF’s Surya Kiran aerobatic team and Sarang helicopter display team will display their skills.
The Czech Flying Bulls Aerobatics Team will be performing at the Aero India 2011 with their fleet of four Zlin 50 LXes.
The Flying Bulls’ 17-minute performance will include the box formation and the mirror flight.
